Os Gêmeos make NY Times

There was an article in the NY Times this Monday about the Os Gêmeos mural down at Houston and Bowery. I only wonder why it came out now and not close to a month ago when they were down their painting.

I would have completely missed this if Joe Delappe hadn't forwarded it to me. I didn't think I'd ever be mentioned in the NY Times, but I'm just imagining it to be an early birthday present.

Last spring, Jeremy Sapienza, a 28-year-old Web editor, and his partner bought a two-story house on a rough block of Central Avenue in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Like most urban pioneers, they have been renovating as funds allow.
They couldn’t afford to redo the facade, though, which Mr. Sapienza described disdainfully as “flat stucco painted Pepto-Bismol pink.” So this summer they hired an artist named Erik Burke to cover it with a mural.

Street Cred'n with the NY Times


Gaia and Stickman featured in somewhat ridiculous scavenger hunt-esque NY Times article on street art. For the most part I was excited to see stickman since he is the most up in NYC and uses a creative method. Not quite sure if it's true, but I've heard that he is a constructin worker that adds is characters while on the job; following in the footsteps of the railroad workers that dispatched some of the most prolific and notorious monikers while on the job.
